For our Europe & Nth American brothas, winter is creepin’ your way, but us gents down under are just about to launch into SUMMER madness, so we thought we’d focus a lil bit on the fun and carefree styles hot off the runways in Milan, Paris and New York this year … We give you Spring/Summer Two Thousand and Ten. (Check out our fullscreen nitro-fuelled slideshow – all the way below – for more of the looks we love!)
From the streets of New York via London … urban heat from Buckler.
I’d never heard of Buckler until … well … today when I stumbled across them on the wide, wild web. So I paid a visit to their humble website (www.andrewbuckler.com) to see what I could see and there, to my surprise, I found a testererone revved approach to men’s styling … not bad … Here’s their propaganda for you to make up your own mind: “Buckler is a menswear line which melds the Roguish American icon with a Brit edge. Andrew Buckler disregards the universal monotony which plagues menswear, evading uniformity by superimposing eccentric undertones with classic silouettes (sic ‘silhouettes’ – spello Mr Buckler …). Buckler is worn by such personalities as Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee, The Rolling Stones, Franz Ferdinand, Snow Patrol, Liam Gallagher, Giovanni Ribisi, the band Rock and Roll …” OK, Andrew Buckler, we get it that you wanna be famous. Buckler’s Spring/Summer collection, according to the designer, follows the Olympic influence and is evident in the fine-gauge linen T-shirts, stretched and slubby like an athlete’s well-worn workout togs. Slubby? Yowza!
From the classy noggin’ of Giorgio Armani …
Cool azure blues, classic tailoring and jackets to die for. These Armani looks are perfect for when summer beckons to autumn … from casual days by the sea to that all important meeting in the city this collection is true … True style. True Armani. Armani.com
Hermes for Him
This summer, Hermes is all whites and beiges; relaxed, laid back and designed for maximum comfort and freedom. This collection oozes ‘Cote D’Azur'; not the touristy, crowded hotbeds of St Tropez and Cannes, but the hidden jewels of pure, pristine beaches – like ‘La Mala’, ten minutes walk from the centre of Cap d’Ail, a small town just west of Monaco – that are more sandy, more peaceful and less crowded. Bienvenue sur Hermes.com.
Green with envy for D&G
I need me some D&G. Especially pieces from their 2010 SS Collection which seriously makes me want to flee the insipid four walls of my office and launch myself into the big bad outdoors; putting on a gorgeous golf course green like Woods-before-Woodgate, charging through a wild forest on a picnic with my woman, or just wandering past a market in Provence. Or perhaps I’m being heavily influenced by the set design of D&G’s runway … ah well … either way, green is a great colour for Summer boys, so wear it with earthy, manly pride!
And the prize goes to … DSquared2 Mens
We absolutely think this collection has the most versatile menswear summer styles we’ve seen so far this year … Dean and Dan have gone all crazy for hues – primary colours to be exact – bright blues, hot yellows, and pinks like you would not believe (yes, I know pink is NOT a primary colour … just go with the flow now will ya!). This time round gents, DSquared2 Men has beat D&G to the mark, with its unashamedly male-centric approach to design and fit, plus male models who look like true-blue men with cajones. Hats off to Dean and Dan … www.dsquared.com.
