Girls love art. They love beautiful things, pretty things, and they appreciate the form of a female. Be it animal, feather or human. They are drawn to shape, form and detail. They’re built like that. So watch them. (I’m sure you already do). They are quite intriguing aren’t they. Women that is. They are the best people watchers on the planet. Yes, better than us! Why? Because they are nurturers and carers for young, so they have this built in mechanism that senses safety or danger.
So, do you want your lovely lady walking into your house and immediately seeing the un-vacuumed floors, mould on the walls, the potentially dusty shelves? Or do you want her to look up at a striking, imposing, genius piece of art thanks to your new best friend, Joshua Petker; in addition to some mood lighting, a few scented candles and a whopping smile on your face?
When it comes to beauty + a little something else, Joshua has mastered the art of the beautiful woman (feminine energy) + rebellion (masculine energy) to an absolute tee.
Joshua Petker was born in Los Angeles, CA in 1979 and received a BA in Western History from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. While pursuing a degree in History he maintained a growing interest in the arts that developed out of a fascination with graffiti which Petker started creating at the age of 14. After studying abroad in 2001 at the Lorenzo de’Medici Institute of Florence, he decided to pursue a career as a fine artist upon completion of his studies back in the U.S.A. Petker’s paintings have been exhibited internationally and are included in numerous private collections througout the world.
Joshua has a keen artist affection towards the Austrian born artist, Gustav Klimt (July 14, 1862 – February 6, 1918). Klimt was a Symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement. Klimt’s primary subject was the female body and his works are marked by a frank eroticism—nowhere is this more apparent than in his numerous drawings in pencil.
We are more than happy to see Joshua’s work contend with the best in all galleries globally. His work is intelligent, it’s beautiful, emotional and tells a story in shape, colour and form. His goal is to create beauty; our desire is to see it.
