Hackett London, the luxury British menswear brand, opened its first store on the New King’s Road in London selling vintage gentlemen’s clothes and accessories.

It soon became apparent that market demand would always exceed supply and Jeremy Hackett and Ashley Lloyd-Jennings decided to manufacture from new, to complement the second-hand offering. Starting from scratch but working with traditional manufacturers, they were able to create their ideal range of clothing and accessories for town and country based on their extensive knowledge of British men’s style.

Not long after starting to sell new clothes, Hackett added sportwear to sit alongside its formal, business and smart casual ranges. This came off the back of Hackett’s first sponsorship, of a Household Cavalry polo team playing out of Guards Polo Club. This has led onto many successful sporting and social sponsorships including dressing the England Rugby Team during its victorious World Cup campaign in 2003 as well as World Cup Winner Jonny Wilkinson and current partnership collaborations with Aston Martin Racing, The Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race, Klosters Snow Polo, The British Army Polo team, and the BNP Paribas Tennis in Paris. The most recent addition has been to become the Official Menswear Stylist to the BAFTAs. These sponsorships underline Hackett’s ability to dress any man for any occasion from head to toe as well as its strong British credentials.

After repeated requests from customers to make clothes for little boys just like Daddy’s, Hackett started to produce a successful range for “Little Brittons” which develops each season, with specific girls pieces introduced for spring summer 2012.

The quintessentially British brand has been flying the Union Jack high around the world for many years, so it is fitting that in this, a Jubilee year, the Queen has honoured Hackett with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade. Hackett’s commercial success has been linked to the export of its ‘Essentially British’ world to countries around the world.

Hackett London is proud to be supporting the men’s event at London Fashion Week this year as it is a great opportunity to showcase Hackett’s Best of British approach to men’s style.

Hackett London currently has 37 stand alone stores and 44 concessions worldwide.
