The men’s street style shown at the biggest menswear trade fair in the world, Pitti Uomo is a runway without a runway. The streets are genuinely run over with fashionistos who are affectionately known ‘the peacocks’ as they show off new accessories, shoes, suits and stripes. This is where the new menswear trends are born and commercialised into next year’s menswear must have’s.
June 16-19 saw Pitti Uomo held in the Italian summer months, and we saw more t-shirts enter the street strutting parades than the ever so anticipated colourful linen suits.
During the four-day event, many flashes of textiles were lit up by the European sunshine as checks, gingham, polka dots and block colours erupt out of the cobblestone like flowers shooting from the soil. And this international crowd is not afraid of wearing every shade of the rainbow. Mauves, pinks, purples, lilacs and so forth, are all equally worn with panache at the trade show event.
MenStylePower was invited this year to the Peroni Nastro Azzurro exclusive cocktail event held at the Hotel Continentale in Florence alas were we so inundated with work we had to postpone. As guests watched the sun set over the Ponte Vecchio, Michelin starred restaurant Borgo San Jacopo, presented Italian canapés for guests to enjoy including lemon infused risotto, grilled lamb meatballs with truffle eggs and of course, antipasto. We’re so jealous!
London’s ‘House of Peroni’ master mixologist, Federico Riezzo impressed guests with the ‘Peroni Infusion’ cocktails, which brought the cocktails to life with a striking blend of Italy’s number one premium beer and a mixture of classic cocktail flavours.
Peroni’s Global Brand Director Claudia Falcone welcomed special guests including Jenny Walton, street style star and Fashion Director of The Sartorialist, Vogue Italia’s Sara Maino, renowned fashion creative director Lee Oliviera and Swiss street-style photographer Yvan Rodic from FaceHunter. The event brought together the best in men’s lifestyle and fashion to celebrate Italian style.
