On Tuesday 8th of August 2017 Land Rover Australia revealed the new Range Rover Velar at a private event in Mosman.
An intimate group of VIPs will gather at the Balmoral Residence, an extraordinary home which shares its ‘reductionist’ design ethos with the Range Rover Velar. Guests attending the event include Land Rover ambassadors Charlotte Caslick, Phil Waugh and James Viles, international model Jessica Kahawaty, musician Sam Margin as well as Ksenja Lukich, Kelvin Ho, Nick Tobias, Jordan and Zac Stenmark, Tom Farrelly, Sara Donaldson, Natarsha Belling and Tom Derickx.
The Range Rover Velar is the fourth member of the Range Rover family, filling the white space between the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport. It is the avant garde Range Rover; a car that celebrates reductionism, stripping away complexity to reveal pure innovation and simplicity.
The Range Rover Velar launch will be hosted by Jaguar Land Rover Australia’s Managing Director, Matthew Wiesner and curated by the event gurus at Rizer, who deliver some of the world’s most exciting luxury events. Richard Woolley, Land Rover’s Studio Director for Design Research and Special Vehicle Operations, will unveil the Velar. Richard, who has flown out especially for the event, spearheads innovation for Land Rover, leading a team of creative designers who are developing future technologies and future product opportunities for the brand.
Says Matthew Wiesner, “The Range Rover Velar offers levels of luxury, refinement and all- terrain capability never before seen in the mid-size SUV segment. Our pre-orders are ‘off the scale’ and demonstrate the relevance of this model to the Australian market.”
Says Richard Woolley, “The Range Rover Velar is the car we built by taking things away. With elegant simplicity, a visually reductive approach and pioneering consumer technology at the heart of our design process, the Velar has perfectly optimised proportions, powerful, taut surfaces and a stunning silhouette. As we like to say back at headquarters, the Range Rover Velar changes everything.”
Situated above one of Sydney’s most beautiful harbour beaches, the Balmoral Residence is the first project in Sydney by designer Cameron MacDonald. Designed to suit the quixotic and highly evolved needs of 21st century living, the three-level residence blends innovative technology with a holistic interior design style, bringing together state-of-the-art finishes, bespoke furniture and a curated selection of art. It has acquired a reputation as a design icon, a fitting location for the reveal of the Velar.
